Testing Three Slime Recipes!

Today I thought we'd do something a bit different, and here was my idea...

Lately I've been into slime. My family and I went out and bought six bottles of glue, just for experimenting! I haven't found MY slime recipe. (You know... the one I will use every single time.) So, because of that I went online and googled simple slime recipes. I found three that I had the supplies for and decided to experiment with them, what a great way to be able to share them with you guys! I am pasting the website I found the recipes on and the instructions below. Hope you like it!

1.  Regular Slimey Gak

Website I got it from: https://www.homesciencetools.com/learning-center/how-to-make-slime

Simple Slime

This version of slime (or Gak) is made of glue and Borax.

What You Need:

What You Do:

  1. In one bowl mix 1 oz. glue (about ¼ of the glue bottle) and ¼ cup water. If you want colored slime, add food coloring to the glue and water mixture. Lift some of the solution out of the container with the stir stick and note what happens.
  2. Add ¼ cup of (Borax) Solution to the glue and water mixture and stir slowly.
  3. The slime will begin to form immediately. Lift some of the solution with the stir stick and observe how the consistency has changed from Step 1.
  4. Stir as much as you can, then dig in and knead it with your hands until it gets less sticky. This is a messy experience but is necessary because it
allows the two compounds to bond completely. Don't worry about any
leftover water in the bowl; just pour it out.
  5. When not in use, store the slime in a plastic bag in the fridge to keep it
    from growing mold.

Let me tell you, it wasn't the best slime I've made, but at least it stuck together! My slime turned out a little hard, but it was still able to be played with.

2.  Dish Soap Slime

Website I got it from: http://www.smartschoolhouse.com/diy-crafts/dish-soap-silly-putty/2#_a5y_p=4826695

In a mixing bowl, combine:
2 tablespoons of corn starch with
1.5 tablespoons of dish soap
Mix the two ingredients together as best as you can for about 10 seconds. Then, you’ll need to get your hands in the silly putty to mix the rest! After a moment, you’ll see the putty start to come together.
This slime was awful. I mixed the two ingredients together, followed the directions exactly, and it turned out miserably. Would not recommend doing this one.

3.  Slime with Glue and Borax

Website I got it from: http://m.wikihow.com/Make-Slime

  1. 1
Mix the borax powder and warm water together. Measure out one tablespoon (15 grams) borax powder and one cup (120 ml) warm water. Add these ingredients to a large mixing bowl. Stir the mixture until the borax is completely dissolved.
  2. 2
Mix glue and water in a separate container. Add ½ cup (60 ml) of glue and ½ cup (60 ml) water to a separate mixing bowl. Stir the mixture until the two are well-combined. The consistency of the mixture should be watery.
  3. 3
Add food coloring to the glue mixture. Choose any color food coloring you like! Green is classic, but feel free to experiment with any color. Start with a few drops of food coloring, then stir. If you want the color to be brighter, add a few more drops of the food coloring.
    • You can also separate the glue mixture evenly into smaller bowls and make each one a different color.
  4. 4
Combine the borax mixture with the glue mixture. Dump both mixtures into a large mixing bowl. Stir them together well. You will see the slime begin to form!
    • If you chose to make smaller amounts of slime in separate containers, evenly divide the borax solution among the containers.
  5. 5
Let the slime sit for 30 seconds. This will give the slime a chance to solidify and reach the ideal consistency.
  6. 6
Take the slime out and have fun! It is normal to have leftover water at the end of this process. Simply remove the slime from the water and discard the water
The last slime was definitely not least! It was the best out of all the slimes. It was very squishy and not sticky at all. That was the problem. It says to put the whole cup of water in, I would only put 1/2 a cup so it wouldn't go to waste. Good job wikiHow!
